"The portrait was made for a group exhibition in London, where the participating artists were free to interpret the exhibition's title 'Emergence' = emergence. I made two self-portraits, of which The Devil in Me 1 is a picture of the attached, repressed and evil feelings that one can't bear to recognize in his own reflection. That's why the face perhaps only comes out so grimly with a simple sharp line."

The starting point for Trine's paintings can be a personal narrative or just every day observations, which she explores through very simple motifs with light and tender brush strokes. She aims to have a minimalist, semi-transparent feel in her paintings which she finds best captures the experience of time as something fleeting and ungraspable.
